Pitfalls of Website Scaling

Website scaling involves growing your infrastructure to keep up with the demands on your website. When bandwidth jumps in a short time, this is a good problem to have because it means you're growing. But if not done properly, scaling can cause some serious problems.

For example, the first pitfall of scaling is not allocating enough resources. The leads to servers that crash and the site then becomes inaccessible. Visitors can quickly become frustrated when your service can't stay online and are likely to move on to other sites. The opposite problem occurs when you overcompensate and purchase too much too quickly. This leaves you with resources that are just being wasted for months, which can put a serious strain on your budget. While saving money is always a concern, you should never just go with the cheapest host. Likewise, don't go with the most expensive unless you are hosting very critical data.
